Silver Lake Ranch

Currently we have two mini cows at the ranch. They keep us busy and entertained.
We have a small ranch so we chose Jersey’s for their superior quality milk and because their small size fits us.

Silver Lake Daisy

Silver Lake Daisy is our first mini cow. We bought her in February 2014. She is a three year old purebred mini jersey cow. Her sire is DC Orlando and dame is Peach Blossom. She has now been successfully bred and calved twice giving us two little heifers. We found she is an easy milker now giving 1-1.5 gallons a day with only a morning milking. But we found like a lot of Jerseys she is a good mama so does not like to milkshare. After her first calf we enjoyed months of fresh milk, homemade cheese, yogurt and ice cream, until we dried her out ready for her next calf. She is now on her second freshening and since selling her calf she is again providing us with lovely milk.

Silver Lake Remington

Silver Lake Remington was our first bottle baby. We picked him up at three weeks old. He is also purebred mini Jersey out of RRR Steston and RRR Truly. He is now our herd sire successfully breeding three heifers. (SL Daisy, SL Bluebell and SL Rose). He is the sire of Silver Lake Ruger and Silver Lake Holly and Ezra ( born after the sale of SL Rose). His temperament has remained calm and gentle and we have been able to continue to handle him and keep him with the cows and calves.

Silver Lake Bluebell Bella (SOLD)

Silver Lake Bluebell Bella was our other bottle baby. She is a purebred mini jersey cow out of Ochwilla Hills Adam and Meadow Beauty Valentine. She has successfully given us a little bull calf Silver Lake Ruger. She has a lovely high set big bag and was an easy milker giving between 3/4-1 gallon per day with one milking. She calved with no problems. We recently sold SL Bluebell so she is now bringing joy and giving milk to another family.

Silver Lake Rose (sold)

On Tuesday September 17th Daisy had a little heifer calf in Tahoe. The delivery went easy and Silver Lake Rose joined the herd. She is just 21in tall and a red brown like her father (Mr Flame). We are all excited to have a little one born on the ranch. We were all there to witness it which was amazing.

Silver Lake Rose is now happily living with her new family and herd in Winnumucca Nv. Rose delivered a bull calf Ezra and both are happy and healthy after a C-section.

Silver Lake Ruger (sold)

On December the 4th Bluebell delivered a little Bull calf in Tahoe. The delivery went easy and Silver Lake Ruger joined the herd. He is just 24in tall at a month old and a light fawn like his mother. We are all excited to have another little one born on our ranch. Ruger is a first calf for both our heifer Bluebell and bull Remington. He is a spitting image of his daddy Silver Lake Remington down to his heart-shaped star. SL Ruger has now been sold and living happily with another family in Ca. He will one day have his own herd and be a herd sire like his Daddy.

Silver Lake Holly (SOLD)

On December the 11th Daisy delivered a little heifer calf in Tahoe. The delivery went easy and Silver Lake Holly joined the herd. She is just 26in tall at a month old and a dark fawn like her mother. We are all excited to have a third little one born on our ranch. Holly is Daisy’s and Remington’s second calf. SL Holly has now joined her new herd also where she will be loved and cared for by a new family in South California.
